Enhanced Sarawak-Japan ties on natural resource development – Sarawak Tribune
TOKYO: The Sarawak government, Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd, and the Ministry of Trade, Economy, and Industry of Japan (METI) convened here on Monday (Dec 16) to strengthen bilateral cooperation on natural resource development and economic growth.
Pertama Ferroalloys said the meeting discussed the potential of leveraging Japan’s advanced technologies to support Sarawak’s industrial and sustainable development goals.
Key attendees included Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and METI representatives Yuzo Yamaguchi and Sarina Kishi.
Also among those present were Pertama Ferroalloys chairman Hirotaka Suzuki and general manager Yuki Nakamura.
During the meeting, Pertama Ferroalloys unveiled its Green-Triple Nine Manganese initiative as part of its phase two operations.
“This initiative will focus on producing Electrolytic Manganese Metal (EMM) and High Purity Manganese Sulphate (HPMnS), which are recognised globally as critical mineral resources.
“These high-purity products, with 99.9 per cent manganese content, are essential for advanced steelmaking and electric vehicle battery production,” Pertama Ferroalloys said in a in a press release.
