Pertama Proudly Supports CSR Initiatives in Lawas through Charity Donation to PERKIM Lawas
Lawas, 15 March 2024 – Pertama Ferroalloys Sdn Bhd proudly joined hands with the Muslim Welfare Organization Malaysia (PERKIM) Lawas Branch to bring joy and support to the local community during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Charity Donation event.
Held at the Seri Sari Hall, Hotel Seri Malaysia Lawas, the event saw an inspiring turnout of 550 attendees, with a total of 1,261 recipients—including disabled children (OKU), orphans, single mothers, and senior citizens—benefiting from the initiative.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including The Honourable Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Deputy Premier of Sarawak and Minister of International Trade,Industry, and Investment, as well as Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development. Joining him were The Honorable Dato Hajjah Dayang Morliah binti Datuk Awang Daud, President of PERKIM Lawas, and The Honourable Dato Henry Sum Agong, former Deputy Minister of Transport.
For Pertama Ferroalloys, this event is meaningful step in strengthening ties with the northern Sarawak community. Represented by Mr. Augustine Lawang (PA & CSR Senior Executive), Mr. Wan Iskandar Wan Ismail (Fire System Supervisor), Ms. Gloria Bulan James (PA & CSR Officer), and Mdm. Rokinah bt Abdullah (Planning Officer), the company contributed RM10,000 to PERKIM Lawas through a symbolic mock cheque handover.
The event also welcomed contributions from other notable donors, including Sarawak Energy Berhad, Tecktonic & Sons Sdn Bhd, Empayar Setia Sdn Bhd, Pusat Khidmat N82 Bukit Sari, Lembaga Amanah Khairat Islam Lawas (LAKHIL), and Lembaga Amanah Kebajikan Melayu Bahagian Limbang and more.
In his speech, Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan expressed his delight at the support from Pertama Ferroalloys, emphasizing how such contributions from Southern Sarawak companies boosts community development in the northern region.
This CSR initiative aligns with Pertama’s broader mission to support the sustainable development goals in Sarawak. By aiding vulnerable groups, Pertama hopes to promote good welfare of Lawas citizens across all ages and additionally empowering women in Sarawak, as PERKIM is an all-women organization.
