Politeknik Mukah Discusses Potential Collaboration with Pertama Ferroalloys for Comprehensive Learning
Pertama Ferroalloys had recently received an industrial visit from Jabatan Perdagangan Politeknik Mukah, as part of their program “From Classroom to Factory: Industry Insights and Expert Perspectives”. The visit that was held yesterday, 2nd October 2024 was designed to enhance the practical learning of the Diploma of Business Studies students.
A total of 65 students and 4 lecturers took part in the visit. The From Classroom to Factory program serves as a requisite of the course DPB50133 Operations Management, providing exposure to the students on real-life operation management in the industry.
The visit commenced with a welcoming speech from Pertama’s general manager Mr. Yuki Nakamura, who highlighted the importance of collaboration between academia and industry. He also addresses the significance of passion as a fuel for driving career success as it drives key actions and behaviors for the students.
An exciting line up was prepared for the students, with a comprehensive organizational introduction presented by Public Affairs and CSR Executive Mr Sylvester Sumping, followed by the most anticipated segment, Process Flow Overview of Ferroalloy production and Knowledge Sharing by the institute’s alumni, Senior Executive of the Warehouse Department Mr Mohammad Firdaus Suffian.
Firdaus provided detailed insights into the intricacies of the production process, blending theoretical knowledge with practical, on-ground realities. His presentation was a valuable example of how former students of the Polytechnic have transitioned from the classroom into thriving careers. The students were also brought to a plant tour, which gave the students an up-close look at the operations of Pertama’s plant.
The visit did not only provide educational experience for the students but also served as a platform for potential collaboration between the institute and Pertama Ferroalloys. Both parties expressed mutual interest in fostering future partnerships, especially in the aspects of industry exposure through practical placements for teachers and students.
